Νεμέα | Nemea
Nemea is an ancient site in Greece near Corinth – also the setting for the Numerical Games. From 1766 – initially with financial support from the London „Society of Dilettanti” – later with French, then North American help on the excavations. The main excavations ended in 2001. Today we are still in the process of rebuilding the main temple – a kind of giant puzzle in which the missing column parts are recreated with the help of the remains. The temporary workshops built for this purpose are located behind the actual temple. In these workshops I discovered the political map of the world – a unique discovery! Nemea ist ein antikes Zeusheiligtum in Griechenland in der Nähe von Korinth – auch Schauplatz der Numerischen Spiele. Seit 1766 wurde – zunächst mit finanzieller Unterstützung der Londoner Society of Dilettanti – später mit französischer, dann nordamerikanischer Hilfe an den Ausgrabungen gearbeitet. Die Hauptausgrabungen wurden 2001 beendet. Heute ist man immer noch dabei den Haupttempel wieder aufzubauen – so eine Art Riesen Puzzle, bei dem die fehlenden Säulenteile …
